Artisic Merit

Overwhelming in the beginning, rest assured you can easily learn the basic concepts and will be able to train you eye to subjectively judge Merit.

Based on concepts rather then “It speaks to me”

When art tugs at your soul, it has merit. To really learn you must take a class, Basic composition in anything, photography, sketch, pottery, or water colors. You don’t need to master it, as that takes practice, (10,000 hours, in fact). You just should only learn the language. The building blocks of art. Let’s work our way up from the roots.

All art has a few basic components.

In your Tool box you have, Line, Pattern, Contrast, and Movement

You can use this tools to arrange in an Overlapping, Linear,modeling,isometric,foreshortening,color, along with Point of view that keeps items in the foreground, Larger, Low, Lines diverge, Sharpness, Overlapping, Vivid Colors, warm colors, and rough textures. Converse the background is seen Smaller, Higher, Lines Converge, Overlapped, Blurred, Grays, and Smooth Textures.
Learn the rules of Thirds. See each image with a Hatch Mark, or blank Tick Tak Toe Board. # 3 squares across, down or both. The subject should be in one the lines intersections. Keeping it off-center and off horizon by 1/3 .
